- Instagram doesn't publish a profile photo size. It shows profile photos as a circle, so keep the subject centred in a square image.

Each size comes from the platform’s own help centre, ads guide or developer documentation, and links to that page. All sources were checked on 24 September 2026.
Where a platform publishes a ratio, maximum width or display size instead of exact pixels, the size is marked “Calculated from” and the note explains how. Rows marked Video are listed for reference; the resizer creates images.
Platforms change their specifications without notice. If a size matters for a campaign, open the source before you post.
Questions about image sizes
Instagram stores feed photos up to 1080 px wide. Portrait 4:5 is 1080 × 1350 px, tall portrait 3:4 is 1080 × 1440 px, square is 1080 × 1080 px and landscape 1.91:1 is 1080 × 566 px. Instagram crops ratios outside 1.91:1 to 3:4.
Both use a vertical 9:16 frame. Meta recommends 1440 × 2560 px; 1080 × 1920 px is the same shape. Reels can be anything from 1.91:1 to 9:16 and need at least 720 px and 30 frames per second.
Instagram recommends 420 × 654 px, a ratio of about 1:1.55. You can't change the cover after uploading the reel, so choose it before you post.
