Post to Telegram

You can connect a Telegram channel or group to a brand and post to it from Wahlu. Scheduling and queues work the same as for your other accounts.

Wahlu posts as its own bot, @wahlu_bot. The bot needs to be an administrator in your chat with the right to post messages.

Connect a channel or group

1. Open your brand and click Accounts in the brand menu.
2. Click + Connect next to Telegram.
3. A box called Connect Telegram opens. Click Open Telegram.
4. In Telegram, press Start in the chat with @wahlu_bot.
5. Tap Choose a channel or Choose a group. Pick one you own or run as an administrator.
6. Telegram adds @wahlu_bot as an administrator that can post. Confirm it in Telegram.
7. Go back to Wahlu. Click Connect and the name of your chat.

The link in step 3 works for 15 minutes. If it runs out, click Start again.

You can also add the bot by hand. Do steps 1 to 4 first. Then, in your chat's settings, add @wahlu_bot as an administrator with Post messages turned on. Go back to Wahlu to finish.

Only the workspace owner can connect or remove accounts. A chat can only be connected to one Wahlu workspace.

Post to Telegram

1. Click New post.
2. Add your photos or videos. For words only, click Write a text post instead.
3. Under Where should it go?, pick your Telegram chat.
4. Write your message. The counter shows if it is too long for Telegram.
5. Open Telegram options to change how it is sent.
6. Pick Post now or Schedule, then click it.

What you can post

A photo or video post doesn't need words. A text post does.

Good to know:

• Telegram makes links, @mentions and #hashtags clickable.
• What you type is sent just as you typed it. Telegram formatting codes are not used.
• Some emojis count as 2 characters, the way Telegram counts them.
• Wahlu turns WebP and very big photos into JPEG so Telegram accepts them.

Telegram options

• Show link preview shows a preview of the first link in a text message. It is on unless you turn it off.
• Send silently sends the message without a notification sound. It is off unless you turn it on.

How many posts you can send

• Your plan's limits apply, as for your other accounts.
• Each chat can get up to 100 messages from Wahlu in a day.

Post to Telegram from your AI agent

Your AI agent, the API and the CLI can post to Telegram too. The same rules and limits apply. Your agent can send an album and choose a silent message or no link preview.

If you run the Wahlu CLI or MCP server on your own computer, update it first. You need CLI 0.9.0 or later, or MCP server 0.16.0 or later. Older versions show an error once a brand has a Telegram account.

No Insights for Telegram

Telegram doesn't share views or reactions with bots. So Wahlu can't show numbers for your Telegram posts in Insights.

If the bot loses its rights

If someone removes @wahlu_bot, or takes away its right to post, Wahlu can't post there. The chat then shows Reconnect in Accounts.

1. In Telegram, add @wahlu_bot back as an administrator with Post messages turned on.
2. In Wahlu, open Accounts and click your chat.
3. Click Reconnect and follow the steps again.

A group that Telegram turns into a supergroup gets a new address. Reconnect it the same way.

If a post fails

• Bot can't post. Add @wahlu_bot back as an administrator that can post messages. Then reconnect.
• Text too long. Keep it to 4,096 characters, or 1,024 with a photo or video.
• Media refused. Check the file type and size, then try again.
• Daily limit reached. Wait until tomorrow, then try again.

Disconnect a chat

1. Open Accounts and click your chat.
2. Click Disconnect, then confirm.

Wahlu forgets the chat, and @wahlu_bot leaves it. You can also just remove @wahlu_bot from the chat in Telegram.
