Rules for each network
Caption lengths, photo and video sizes, and formats for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Telegram, Discord and Tumblr.

Each network has its own rules. Wahlu checks them for you in the post editor. This page lists the main ones.

| Story | 1 photo or video, no caption. Video up to 100 MB and 60 seconds. |
Up to 30 hashtags and 20 @mentions.
Facebook Pages

TikTok

Photo posts can have up to 4,000 characters. TikTok uses the first 90 as the title.
The post editor accepts up to 10 photos. The API accepts up to 35 for a TikTok carousel.
TikTok is still reviewing Wahlu. Posts may fail or stay private. See TikTok privacy and settings.
YouTube
- One video. MP4, MOV or WebM.
- A title is a must, up to 100 characters.
- Description up to 5,000 bytes. Tags up to 500 characters in total.
- Shorts are square or tall and up to 3 minutes.
- Use more than 60 hashtags and YouTube ignores them all.
- Personal profiles only for now.
- Text up to 3,000 characters.
- Up to 10 photos in one post (JPEG, GIF or PNG), or one MP4 video.
- Video from 3 seconds to 15 minutes, up to 500 MB.
X
- Text up to 280 characters by X's count. A link counts as 23 and an emoji counts as 2.
- Up to 4 photos (JPEG, PNG or WebP), or one GIF. Each up to 5 MB.
- Or one MP4 or MOV video, up to 512 MB.
- Posts with links have a monthly count. See Post to X.
Bluesky
- Text up to 300 characters. An emoji counts as 1.
- Up to 4 photos (JPEG, PNG or WebP), each up to 20 MB.
- Or one MP4 or MOV video, up to 100 MB and 3 minutes. Video needs a verified email on Bluesky. See Post to Bluesky.
Telegram
- Text up to 4,096 characters. Some emojis count as 2.
- One photo or video with a caption of up to 1,024 characters.
- Or an album of 2 to 10 photos and videos.
- Photos are JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB. Video is MP4, up to 50 MB. See Post to Telegram.
Discord
- Text up to 2,000 characters. Some emojis count as 2.
- Up to 10 photos and videos (JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP; MP4, MOV or WebM).
- Each file up to 20 MB, and 24 MB for all files together. See Post to Discord.
Tumblr
- A text post, with an optional title and link card.
- Or 1 to 10 photos (JPEG, PNG or GIF), each up to 10 MB.
- Or one MP4 or MOV video, up to 100 MB.
- Up to 30 tags. Looping queues and Autopilot can't post to Tumblr. See Post to Tumblr.
If your media is the wrong shape
Crop the photo on your phone, or make a new one in the right size in Studio. Then add it to your post again.

Questions
- Do I need to learn all these rules?
- No. The post editor checks them for you. If a post breaks a rule, the Fix before posting box tells you what to change.
- How many hashtags can I use on Instagram?
- Instagram rejects more than 30. It also only uses the first 5 to sort your post, so a few good ones are best.
