Connect a Tumblr blog, add a title, link and tags, see what you can post, the limits, and how to disconnect it.
Updated
You can connect a Tumblr blog to a brand and post to it from Wahlu. Scheduling works the same as for your other accounts.
Connect your Tumblr blog
- Open your brand and click Accounts in the brand menu.
- Click + Connect next to Tumblr.
- A new tab opens on Tumblr. Sign in if it asks, then allow Wahlu.
- If you have more than one blog, Wahlu asks you to Choose a blog. Click the one you want.
- You see Connected and your blog name. Click Done.
Each connection is one blog. To add another blog, connect Tumblr again and pick it.
Only the workspace owner can connect or remove accounts.
If Tumblr is blocked where you are
Tumblr is blocked in some countries, for example Vietnam. To connect, Tumblr's sign-in page has to load where you are.
If it doesn't load, use a network where Tumblr works. You only need it to connect. After that, Wahlu posts from its own servers, so posting keeps working.
- Click New post.
- Add your photos or video. For words only, click Write a text post instead.
- Under Where should it go?, pick your Tumblr blog.
- Write your post.
- Open Tumblr options to add a title, link, tags or alt text.
- Pick Post now or Schedule, then click it.
For the full tour, see Create and schedule a post.
Tumblr options
All of these are optional.
- Title puts a heading above the post.
- Link adds a link card at the end. Use a full address that starts with https://.
- Tags go under the post. Separate them with commas, without the #. You can add up to 30.
- Alt text describes each photo for people using screen readers.
What you can post
| Post | Rules |
|---|---|
| Text | Words, with an optional title and link. |
| Photos | 1 to 10. JPEG, PNG or GIF, up to 10 MB each. |
| Video | One video. MP4 or MOV, up to 100 MB. |
Only posts you choose
Tumblr asks that a person chooses each post. So Wahlu posts to Tumblr only when you schedule a post or click Post now.
- Looping queues can't post to Tumblr. You can't add a Tumblr blog to one.
- Autopilot never posts to Tumblr.
How many posts you can send
- Your plan's limits apply, as for your other accounts.
- Each blog can get up to 50 posts from Wahlu in a day.
- Tumblr has its own daily limits too, like 250 posts and 20 videos a day. If you reach one, wait until tomorrow.
Post to Tumblr from your AI agent
Your AI agent, the API and the CLI can post to Tumblr too. The same rules and limits apply. Your agent can add a title, a link card, tags and alt text. Confirm each post: Tumblr only allows posts you choose.
If you run the Wahlu CLI or MCP server on your own computer, update it first. You need CLI 0.9.0 or later, or MCP server 0.16.0 or later. Older versions show an error once a brand has a Tumblr account.
No Insights for Tumblr
Wahlu doesn't show numbers for Tumblr posts in Insights yet.
If a post fails
- Connection ended. Reconnect your account.
- Daily limit reached. Wait until tomorrow, then try again.
- File refused. Check the file type and size, then try again.
- Can't post to this blog. Check you can still post to the blog on Tumblr. Then reconnect.
See Why did my post fail? for more.
Disconnect a blog
- Open Accounts and click your Tumblr blog.
- Click Disconnect, then confirm.
Tumblr has no way for apps to give up their access. So also remove Wahlu in your Tumblr account settings, under Apps.
